My regular informant William Paterson remembers a special treat on the occasion of his parents’ wedding anniversary in 1947. They ate at the Playhouse and here’s the menu to prove it.

    I know it is irrelevant but my father was an electrician and was involved when the stars were erected in the ceiling at the Playhouse – that was a long time ago!
    He also lost a finger when his hand got caught in one of those “switches” for the trolley of the bus to change direction in Smith Street.
