Allan's DHEW Picture Album # 1

I was lucky enough to be part of a camera club visit to the harbour mouth area on a number of occasions during the harbour widening project. The pictures in this album were taken on 25 August 2007.

Concrete dolosse which were used to armour the southern breakwater. The dark metal shape in front is the form which was used to mould the dolosse.

Close-up of the old dolosse. A South African invention, apparently, which interlock very effectively. They are massive but people working at the harbour have reported them being broken by ver heavy surf.
