Caption: A great view of the bay taken from the Bluff showing the Point and the Berea in the background. Date unknown, but most of the vessels appear to be sailing ships.

Caption: The Jubilee Fountain which apparently stood on the site of the present City Hall.
Date unknown, but clearly sometime between 1885, when the old town hall (now the central post office) was built, and 1906 when the building of the present City Hall began.

Caption: This is a great picture looking back down West Street from Gardiner Street. On the left some way down is Cuthberts Shoe Shop, which I remember visiting, and, just beyond, Greenacres department store. Note the car in foreground with the swinish TJ (Joahanesburg) number plates. They were the traffic menaces of their time, or so we Durbanites believed. Allan Jackson.

Caption: A view of the Point Docks with a Union Castle liner in the act of slipping out to sea. You can't read the name in the picture but I found the same one on the Internet and it claimed the vessel was the Carnarvon Castle.
